Questions from you. Answers from our arborist.

A few questions come up on repeat when winter sets in, and we are happy to answer them.

  • Do you work in the winter? Yes, we work year-round, weather permitting. When it is cold, snowing, blowing, on days when the sun shines on us and when it doesn’t. Weather permitting, our TreeHugger Crew is in a neighborhood near you for professional residential tree removal and affordable tree trimming.
  • Is it cheap to remove your tree in the winter? We hope you will agree that cheap is not always good and good is not always cheap. Schedule a time to meet with our arborist, and we will discuss affordable tree service options for you.
  • Can you remove trees in the winter? Yes. A combined effect of freezing temperatures, ice, wind, and the weight of snow can result in stress fractures, tree splitting, or complete failure. This may lead to downed utility lines or property damage. If you question your tree’s health, it is our recommendation to have a Certified Arborist assess the health of your tree before the weather becomes a factor of failure. You can then take necessary action to protect your property and your tree.
  • Can you prune my trees in winter? Yes. Deciduous trees can be pruned during winter with little or no adverse consequences. However, it is best to prune oak, maple, linden, hickory, honeylocust, willow, and birch trees between December and March when your tree is dormant. This season allows your arborist a better view of the tree’s structure and avoids the spring season when trees are leafing out or fall when the trees are dropping their leaves. In addition, there is less chance of disease, fungus, or insect damage in winter, and the wound can heal before spring.

Does the ground need to be frozen for my tree service? We are uniquely equipped for residential tree removal; it has been and always will be a priority to do no damage; if your tree is in your yard, it is also our priority. Wet conditions are not ideal; we recommend waiting for the dry or frozen ground to avoid damage.

What is your schedule timeline for tree service?

We commit to a 6-8 week window from the acceptance date of your proposal. However, weather conditions are the one factor we can not control, but we do our best to reschedule promptly if necessary. We have had great success with our residential tree service customers within this timeline. Read our google reviews to see what our customers say about our crew! Read Our Google Reviews

How much does it cost to remove a tree?

Each tree service is unique, and we quote each project to be affordable for homeowners with consideration of the size of the tree, obstacles such as landscaping, location, utilities, and technical difficulty. Some situations require specialized equipment and highly qualified professionals to remove trees; our TreeHugger Company comes prepared and equipped with a qualified crew and equipment for professional tree removal or tree pruning.

Do I need to be home when you remove my tree?

No. You do not need to be onsite, but we have found that our customers enjoy watching our tree removal crew, especially when working on crane-assisted technical tree removals they have become known for. We appreciate it when our customers are present, and you can trust you are in good hands if you cannot be there. We do our best to schedule the arborist that met with you for your quote to be onsite for your tree care service.

We welcome any further questions you may have; our arborists love to talk about trees!
